Ogimachisanjo Kine (正親町三条公兄)

Kine OGIMACHISANJO (1494 - March 8, 1578) was a Kugyo (top court official) during the late Muromachi period (the Sengoku period (period of warring states)). He was a retainer of the Imperial Court serving four generations from Emperor Gotsuchimikado (103rd) to Emperor Ogimachi (106th), and his highest official court rank was Shonii (Senior Second Rank) Naidaijin (Minister of the Interior). His father was Naidaijin Sanemochi OGIMACHISANJO. Jiju (a chamberlain) Sanee OGIMACHISANJO, Gon Chunagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state) Sanefuku OGIMACHISANJO, Sanenori HANAZONO, and Shoin koji (Takanori SHIJO, the father of Takachika KUSHIGE) were his children. He had a daughter who became the wife of Saneki SANJONISHI.

He was ennobled right after his birth. After that, he became jiju (a chamberlain), Ukone no shosho (Minor Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards), Ukone no chujo (Middle Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards), and Kurodo no to (Head Chamberlain) and finally became Sangi (councilor) in 1518 to rank with Kugyo. After that, he successively served as Bizen no Gon no kami (Provisional Governor of Bizen Province) and Sakone no chujo (Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards), but suffered economic hardships and went to Suruga Province in 1540. In 1544, he once returned to Kyoto and attended the Imperial Court. He was assigned to Sangi to rank with Kugyo. Then, he became Gon Chunagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state), then Gon Dainagon (a provisional chief councilor of state) in 1546, but he again left Kyoto for Kai Province in 1547. Later, he returned to Kyoto again, was assigned to Dazai gon no Sochi (Provisional Governor-General of the Dazai-fu offices, and served as Naidaijin in 1554.
